Collaboration
In collaboration with H. Jan Tennekes – architect and former director of our firm – Gortemaker Algra Feenstra designed an expansion of 8,000 m2 and a renovation of 2,800 m2 between 2001 and 2003 at Dijklander Ziekenhuis, location Purmerend. After the merger with Westfriesgasthuis in Hoorn, both hospitals continued together under the name Dijklander Ziekenhuis. The merger prompted a lateralization plan for healthcare and a new structure plan for the Purmerend location to transform the existing general hospital into a high-standard short-stay clinic for elective care. This allows specialized care to be available for the entire region in collaboration with the offering of complex top clinical care in Hoorn. Gortemaker Algra Feenstra took responsibility for the resulting design tasks.
For various locations within the old Waterland Hospital, Gortemaker Algra Feenstra has designed plans:
The Endoscopy Center has been relocated to a new location adjacent to the Day Care Center. Two Endoscopy rooms with preparation and recovery areas were delivered and put into use as the first project. Adjacent to it is the Day Care Center with 14 beds and 12 lounge chairs. By placing both departments next to each other, various spaces can be used jointly, including the waiting area and consultation rooms.
On the ground floor, the Acute Care Unit has been realized. An integrated department with emergency care, First Heart Aid, CCU, and ICU rooms. The Plaster Room also has a new location with space for two treatment tables.
On the first floor, a new IVF lab is being realized. The new department includes two examination rooms, the Lab, and a treatment room with recovery area. The specific lab space meets the highest requirements of the Cairo consensus.
The Operating Room Complex has been renovated to meet the requirements of the present time. Four operating rooms, a holding-recovery area, and supporting spaces have been designed by Gortemaker Algra Feenstra. Adjacent to it are two renovated operating rooms for minor procedures.
