Office building “de Nieuwe Maas”

This time Van Oord did not do any dredging, but rather CEO Pieter van Oord symbolically laid the foundation stone together with Mayor Aboutaleb. The office is located on the Schaardijk: the interchange for one of the most vital (water) ways of The Netherlands. To the north the high-profile location borders on the Nieuwe Maas, a stone’s throw from the Van Brienenoord Bridge, which is crossed daily by about 250,000 cars.

De Nieuwe Maas is a new head office of around 14,000 m² for Van Oord in Rotterdam. The office for dredging and marine contractor Van Oord is on the banks of the River Maas.

Distinctive design

The distinctive design has a nautical theme, which fits in well with both the client and the location. The roofs is covered with moss sedum that, due to its energy efficiency, contributes to the sustainable character of the building. The result is a fresh office with wonderful views of Rotterdam’s homeport.
