A Distinct Character Shaped by the Environment
A solid volume made of locally sourced basalt, together with concrete columns, ensures a strong connection at ground level. The projecting volume of the upper floors provides space for a covered kiss & ride zone and creates a contrasting effect with its smooth light gray finish. The building is then clad in a “summer jacket” of subtly curved and twisted wooden slats. These lightweight slats not only serve as sunshades but also give a unique character to the building.

Views & Light
The location for the future Kivu International Clinic allows for breathtaking views of Lake Kivu and its surroundings from the public areas and patient rooms. Corridors extending to the façade allow daylight to penetrate the building. Additionally, together with the staff areas located near the façade, it allows the staff to enjoy this view as well.
