ROUTE 53
Is it possible to tell the story behind the dyke? To give poetry to the place and space? For us, this design research on the adaptive dyke is the starting point to reevaluate the experience and history of the IJssel dyke between Deventer and Zwolle.
By incorporating the necessary dyke reinforcement into a “scenic route,” the experience of the so-called Sallandse dyke and the surrounding landscape is enhanced. An analysis of the dyke has revealed its cultural-historical and landscape values. By connecting these with personal stories from dyke residents, content is given to a sensory route, ROUTE 53 – a name derived from the dyke number of the Sallandse dyke. The design results showcase three adaptive dyke solutions in the dyke section: the village dyke, the accelerated dyke, and the tranquil dyke.
Initiatief
In juni 2015 ging het BNA Onderzoek De Adaptieve Dijk van start; een ontwerpstudie naar de kansen voor ruimtelijke ontwikkeling langs drie belangrijke rivierdijken. De zes geselecteerde interdisciplinaire ontwerpteams die gedurende een half jaar drie voorbeeldlocaties hebben onderzocht, hebben hun ideeën en visies op de toekomst van de drie dijktrajecten gepresenteerd in januari 2016, waarbij het digitale dijkeninspiratiedocument is gelanceerd.
Het onderzoek is een gezamenlijk initiatief van de waterschappen Rivierenland, Vallei en Veluwe en Groot Salland, de provincies Gelderland en Overijssel, het Delta Ontwerpplatform van het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu en de Academie van Bouwkunst Amsterdam en BNA Onderzoek.
