A residential home where young adults in the middle of the city get plenty of time to break free from their loverboy was a dream of Spirit for many years. The new residential home, PinQ, stands in stark contrast to the former location, the closed youth facility De Koppeling in Zuidoost.
Own room & communal spaces
Within the new house, the residents have their own room with a private bathroom and share communal spaces. Several areas have been created: a hangout spot, a kitchen table, a quiet corner, a TV area. There is also a secluded outdoor area, so not everyone has to be together all the time. Furthermore, there are educational and therapy rooms where the young people receive lessons and have conversations. There is a large theater and sports area that provides opportunities for physical activities and creative pursuits. A yoga room offers the young people a chance to move and focus on themselves in a completely different way.
Progression
They live on the closed treatment group for an average of three to nine months. After that, they transition to the open group to gradually reintegrate into society. They can then go to Albert Heijn to do some shopping or have coffee somewhere.
With the young women who have returned home or are living on their own after their time at PinQ, things are going well. Some girls come by or send messages from time to time. There is still a lot of contact with them. They still see PinQ as a safe haven.
