The linear volume serves as a connection between various future pavilions with treatment functions and outpatient clinics. In phase 1, covering 28,000 m² GFA, the first part of the clinic and the pavilion with acute functions (Emergency, HAP, high care, operating theatre, and intervention center) will be constructed. In phase two, a pavilion will be built, featuring imaging techniques, a delivery room, and a second set of operating theatres, along with the next section of the clinic.
The existing building complex is inward-facing, while the new construction will seek to connect with the surrounding environment. The park landscape will continuously flow between the separate buildings. The public axis beneath the clinic is transparent and accessible at multiple points. Walking paths from the park weave through the natural landscape between the buildings. The park and the stream are visible from everywhere. By elevating the clinic, the bedrooms will have direct views of greenery and the wider surroundings.
As part of the master plan, the ecological zone of the De Leij stream will be restored, with the landscape design incorporating swales for water buffering, parking being integrated into the landscape, and the buildings designed as elevated pavilions within greenery. The new hospital, along with the adjacent school, rehabilitation center, care complex, and daycare center, will transform into a park-like environment with ‘loose’ pavilions surrounded by beautiful nature. This will create a calming and healing environment for staying, working, and recovering.
