A Design That Connects
The Südspidol will serve as a central hub for CHEM’s activities and is designed to accommodate a wide range of medical services, including ambulance and nursing services, a specialized oncology center, and departments for psychiatry and geriatrics. Its unique triangular architecture and elegantly designed public spaces ensure an efficient and streamlined experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Our design emphasizes healing architecture, placing people at the center. By strategically positioning functions, implementing smart logistical solutions, and creating an environment with natural materials and abundant daylight, we integrate the latest insights in healthcare architecture.
A surrounding park seamlessly blends into the interior spaces, promoting tranquility and recovery.
The Südspidol is being developed with high sustainability ambitions and aims for DGNB Gold certification, incorporating energy-efficient technologies such as solar panels, geothermal energy, and smart climate control.

Together with our partners, we are creating an innovative infrastructure that optimally meets the needs of both patients and healthcare providers. The 121,000 m² complex will accommodate approximately 600 beds, with a focus on single-patient rooms to enhance comfort and privacy. The hospital’s unique triangular design ensures efficient organization and short walking distances within departments. An automated underground transport system will discreetly and efficiently deliver goods to their destinations.
Our role in the project includes:
Designing a human-centered and efficient hospital environment by integrating healing environments into the architecture, collaborating within a BIM team, and implementing sustainability strategies.
