The building is characterized by one large roof plane under which the offices are organized. Four quadrants converge in a central atrium featuring an open staircase that connects the different levels and offers flexibility. The roof is suspended by cables, creating a dynamic office landscape. The multifunctional solar roof generates energy, collects rainwater, and provides shade from the tropical sun.
The workspace concept ranges from lively meeting areas to quiet focus zones, with enclosed spaces serving as buffers to optimize concentration and collaboration.
Elevated in the City
The site lies between Schouwburgweg and Emancipatie Boulevard, with an elevation difference of approximately 4.5 meters. Raising the entire building not only creates additional parking space on the site but also makes the main entrance directly accessible from Schouwburgweg. The elevated volume offers stunning views of the surroundings and the other Aqualectra buildings across the street.

Sustainable and Climate-Resilient
The multifunctional solar roof is the centerpiece and sustainable core of the design. It generates energy, collects rainwater, and protects the offices from the intense tropical sun. Robust materials have been carefully selected to withstand the harsh climate of sun, wind, and sea salt.
A separate ventilation system and fan coil units ensure a comfortable indoor climate, where air is smartly cooled and reused. Flexibility is also built into the floor with a grid for data and electricity — ready for the future.
Locally Connected
The project is realized in close collaboration with S8 Architects and local partners. Wherever possible, local materials and craftsmanship are used.
